This picnic blanket comes folded and sealed in plastic. I was afraid I might have to let it sit out for a while, but there was absolutely no smell when I pulled it out.As you open it, pay attention to how it's folded. We got the pirate map one and, fittingly, it's about as easy to re-fold as a road map. But really, as long as you end up at the flap, you can fold it any way you like. I folded the edges in until I had a strip slightly wider than the flap, then folded this up so that the velcro strip fell under the one on the flap.The handle is sturdy and helpful when you're juggling the blanket, a cooler, the kids, and whatever else you're toting from your car to your spot at the park or beach. The blanket is quite lightweight. This is because it's unpadded, but it does have a waterproof layer to keep your tush clean and dry even when the ground is damp.This blanket is huge. A family of four could fit comfortably on it, or a couple could have a romantic picnic with a large, delicious spread. I love the bright and colorful graphics. There are so many details, and the printing is crisp.I was impressed at how fair the price is for such a nice blanket. The only hard decision is which design to choose- I loved most of them, and when my brain collapsed after trying to decide among so many, I finally let my husband pick.The stitching is tight and secure in the quilting, the border around the edges, and the handle. I think it'll last through many trips to the beach, fireworks shows, and outdoor concerts. And if I forget where I left my treasure, it's got me covered there, too!
