Excellent! I love and support Chinese Matcha and this brand is from Huizhou Guicha Tea!!! 100% recommended for purchase and repurchase
I've been into matcha making at home for about a year now. I am learning what makes a good matcha, and what bad matcha is like, especially after wasting money on suppossedly good matcha, which, in reality, was more like culinary grade matcha. THIS matcha though, is a breath of fresh air after suffering through that last can I had. It has a pleasant sweetness to it. It foams up nicely with just a regular bamboo wisk. Once I foamed it up, it was a nice shade of green. DIdn't look like the muddy stuff I had before! It has a simple, refined flavor to it. Although it seems a bit pricey, you should go ahead and spend the money on it. You definitely won't regret the relaxation that will come after having a cup of this stuff!
Fine matcha overall. It's well-kept in terms of packaging and freshness, but the quality isn't the highest I've had. The flavor is there but lacks the depth and vibrancy you'd get from a truly premium ceremonial grade matcha. Decent for everyday use, not something I'd reach for if I wanted the best cup possible. It's fresh but not high quality. The size is decent but not it's not that great for your money.
This Matcha powder creates a delicious cup of matcha! I use a ratio of 1 tsp matcha powder to 8 oz water, and then top with a splash or two of my vanilla creamer. The powder is vibrantly colored and mild but balanced tasting which I appreciate since I am still a newbie to the world of matcha. I find that this matcha isn't bitter, it's just earthy and delicious .In terms of mixability, I used a hand frother to mix the powder and water, and found that it blended both easily and quickly. And lastly, in terms of value, by my ratio of 1 tsp matcha powder to 8 oz water, I can get about 12-13 matcha beverages out of this can which makes each drink about $2.41 each, which is still about a third of the price I'd pay for a matcha at a cafe. I feel like paying less than $2.50 for a really smooth and high quality matcha makes this matcha an excellent value. For this reason, I would definitely recommend this matcha. Cheers!
Emerail Ceremonial Grade Matcha Powder, High-Altitude Matcha 60g/2.12ozI really enjoyed this matcha. The powder is very fine and has a beautiful, vibrant green color. It mixes easily with warm water and produces a smooth drink with very little clumping or grittiness. The flavor is rich and distinctly green tea, but I found it pleasantly smooth without the harsh bitterness or astringency that some matcha can have. It has enough flavor to enjoy on its own, but it also works very well in a latte. I especially like that it is unsweetened, so I can adjust the sweetness to my preference. The flavor is fairly robust, so I think it would also work well in smoothies or recipes where you want the matcha flavor to stand out.Overall, this is a smooth, flavorful matcha that I have really enjoyed drinking.
I drink ceremonial matcha pretty frequently, but I'll be honest: I’m no certified connoisseur. I currently have three different matchas on hand across different price points—a basic culinary grade, this ~$30 Emerail tin from China, and a high-end $50 ceremonial tin from Japan. In a blind taste test, the culinary grade was obvious right away (dull color, bitter bite). But when it came to comparing this $25-30 tin to my $50 Japanese matcha, I honestly couldn't tell the difference in a blind cup.The powder is super fine with a bright, vibrant green hue. It dissolves smoothly and froths up with zero fuss, whether I'm using a traditional bamboo whisk (chasen) in a bowl or a quick handheld electric frother in a mug. It builds a great layer of microfoam without leaving dry clumps stuck to the bottom. The flavor is smooth and balanced with almost no bitterness or astringency, just a clean, natural earthy finish. It’s great whisked straight with water and has plenty of depth to hold up in an iced oat milk latte. If you want top-tier ceremonial quality without paying ultra-premium $50+ prices, this 60g tin is a fantastic value.
This matcha powder is milled very finely, but it also has a weight to it. I appreciate that it is completely pure, with no additives like sweeteners or creamer powder, so I can finely tune the flavour profile of each element to my own liking, or have it completely plain in a traditional way.The scent is bold and strong, a very powerful green tea aroma. I have no doubt this is truly a high quality matcha.Since it is such a weighty powder, it takes a little more whisking to blend it in with the water, but it still manages to have very minimal settling.I use a ratio of about 1tsp of matcha powder to 8oz of liquid for the typical strength that I like, but I could probably cut back to ¾ or ½ of a teaspoon for this particular matcha, especially if I was adding other flavours in the mix, like vanilla or lavender. The flavour is as rich and robust as it smells, similar to a dark roast coffee in a way. This is the kind of matcha I like to have around when I have a cold or flu and my senses are dulled and I need something really punchy to break through. It has a very mild background bitterness that stands out much more when consumed hot and plain, but mellows out pleasantly when made in a hot or cold latte style drink, or smoothie. As I drink, I can feel the powderiness of the matcha coat my mouth in a soft, pleasant way. IT does not have a gritty texture at all, but if I let it sit for too long there will be a little settling at the bottom of the cup. It is always best to drink hot matcha as quickly as possible to avoid that, but in a latte or smoothie I never have that issue at all. This matcha is so intense, it makes it the perfect candidate to use in cooking to make fillings, or ice cream, or dusting on pastries. I also find this matcha pairs well with good quality milk or dark chocolate.
I’ve been using this ceremonial grade matcha powder daily to make iced lattes at home. The paper packaging is very thoughtful and adequately protects the tin.Right out of the tin, the powder has a vibrant green color and a very fine, fresh texture. I sift it through a fine mesh strainer first, and it whisks effortlessly with warm water and a bamboo whisk into a smooth, frothy base with virtually no clumping or grittiness. The flavor is mellow and clean, with rich, earthy notes and a pleasant natural sweetness. It has very low astringency and none of the harsh bitterness you often get with lower-grade powders, so it holds up nicely both on its own with warm water and mixed into cold milk for a latte. At the $28.99 list price for a 60g (2.12 oz) tin, you get a good amount of high-quality, first-harvest powder that yields plenty of servings compared to typical 30g tins on the market. It’s an easy-to-whisk, delicious ceremonial matcha that makes an excellent daily morning drink.
