4x3.2 Ft Tap Dance Floor Tap Board for Tap Dancing Foldable Bamboo (black)

Ordered this mat for my grandkids who take dance. I know it specifies tap, but it can be used for other dance as well. The mat is sturdy and made of bamboo wood which gives a nice tap sound when practicing. There is a felt backing to hold the at in place. I really like that the mat can be rolled up and stored away. I think this tap mat works fine for younger kids but may not be large enough for adults. This cost is a bit on the high side but if you have a tap dancer in the family, this mat is nice for practice.

Feels very bendy and squishy to dance on. Perhaps that is intended or due to the slat-style design, but I don’t like how it feels and it results in my feet frequently catching on the edges of the slats

I’ve been using this tap board for home practice, and the first thing I noticed was the sound. It gives a clean, sharp response under the taps, which matters a lot when you’re working on timing and clarity. It feels much closer to a real practice surface than using a random piece of flooring at home, and it has enough quality to make drilling the same sequence over and over less annoying.The bamboo surface feels sturdy and the non-slip backing does its job. I tried it on a couple of different floors, and it stayed put without sliding around. I also like that it folds up and comes with a carrying bag, because that makes it much easier to move out of the way when I’m done. For something meant to be portable, the durability seems very good so far, and the finish has held up nicely after repeated sessions.The main thing to keep in mind is size. It works well for focused practice, but you are not getting a huge amount of room to travel, so this is better for technique work than full routines with a lot of movement. It also isn’t something I’d want to haul around every day if I didn’t have to, since it still has some weight to it. Still, for what it is, the quality is strong and it does exactly what I wanted from a practice surface.

I got the foldable Tap Dance Floor in black. My kid is taking various lessons and need a hard surface to practice. The square footage is rather small, 3'x4' which is only good for staying in place, with not enough for arms length diameter all around. The wood material is a bamboo laminated vinyl plank material. The planks are not that lightweight as the entire bundle is at least 16 pounds. The backing is a thin felt pad with rubber dots so it doesn't slip. There is a bit of gap in between the planks and the padding where it is not fully glued down so the planks can be folded up into a bundle to put away for storage. The flooring can be placed on top of low pile carpet and low cut grass/lawn. Anything higher will flatten the below fibers causing harm to what's underneath it if left in place for a long period of time. The only good thing is that the planks absorb some sound from dance shoes. The planks creates lower decibel sounds versus straight up hardwood floor with louder piercing higher frequency sounds that resonate across the entire floor surface. That's a comfort to the ears at least. This saves space for transporting to different locations. The carrying bag very poor quality and it is as cheap as can be. It is not heavy duty as stated by any means. A small poke or drop or drag will cause the seams to come apart with the amount of weight.
