A heavy dose of nostalgia, but far too uncomfortable for meditation

I decided to try this meditation pillow because the product description mentioned it was filled with buckwheat. Growing up in my home country, buckwheat pillows were incredibly common—whenever I visited my grandmother’s house, that is what we slept on. To be completely honest, they were never the most comfortable pillows back then, but I thought the firm structure of buckwheat hulls might actually work well to support proper posture during meditation.Unfortunately, it just didn't work out for me. Using this pillow brought back a heavy dose of nostalgia, but it turned out to be just as stiff and uncomfortable as the ones at my grandma's house.I honestly find myself questioning why buckwheat is still being marketed for pillows when there are so many superior, modern materials available today. Historically, the older generation in my country used buckwheat simply because it was an abundant, accessible resource at the time—not because it was luxurious. Now that we have so many comfortable, supportive foam and fiber options, I see no reason to choose buckwheat.Additionally, I am really not a fan of the outer cover fabric. It is made of a velvet material that doesn't feel great to me; I would have vastly preferred a simple, breathable cotton. If you already know you love the distinct, rigid feel of traditional buckwheat hulls and enjoy a velvet texture, this might work for you. But if you are looking for comfort during your mindfulness practice, I would look elsewhere.

ABSOLUTELY FREAKING PERFECT! Soft cover, Supportive coreABSOLUTELY FREAKING PERFECT! Soft cover, ...

Short answer: Its beautiful, has a soft cover, supportive, comfortable, well made and absolutely perfect for meditation. Definitely a great way to elevate your meditation game. 10/10 recommend!Wheww I don’t even know where to start with this one. So I have been meditating on and off four years, but it hasn’t been until these past six months or so that I’ve really started getting into it. I always wanted a meditation pillow and typically you usually see just a round or square cushion, so that’s what I looked at, but for some reason, none of them just ever spoke to me. So when I seen this pop up recommended for me, I was super curious as I had never seen a pillow like this. Sooo, I decided to give it a shot. MANNN, am I GLAD I did that. The pillow arrived and I was immediately impressed, let’s just start off by saying it did not come, vacuum sealed like most of everything you buy these days, especially things like comforters and cushions. The pillow itself is super cute and elegant even, for me its going to look great in my Boho/cottage core inspired bedroom aesthetic that I’ll be redoing my room with here soon. Its the perfect size, its made exceptionally well, the part that you sit on it’s filled with cooked buckwheat, which is extremely durable and gives you a lot of support. The Zabuton — which I had never heard of before is the second question which is therefore your ankles and legs. I had nooo idea how important and beneficial that part is.I kid you not, when I sat down, I immediately felt some pressure relief in my back and legs, which is something I rarely get. So I would hold on that alone. But the pillow helps you maintain a steady balance and good posture for meditation.Overall I am quite impressed and I’m definitely going to be recommending it to all my friends who meditate. The outside is a soft velvet while the inside beneath your bottom has a nice comfortable firmness who give you the support you need and the bottom pillow stuff with the softest filling and overall just an extremely comfortable meditation pillow. Despite it being a little pricey, I think it’s definitely a good value for your money and worth every penny. If something ever happened to this one, I will 100% be re-buying.
