Key Features
  • [JAPANESE TRADITIONAL FLOORING: TATAMI] Tatami is a Japanese flooring mat which is a weft-faced weaving of soft rush called "Igusa'', which has been loved in Japan for more than 1000 years. The authentic Tatami mats are thick, heavy, and difficult to handle and care for, but EMOOR's foldable Tatami mat is lightweight and easy to carry and store compactly.
  • [PRODUCT INFORMATION] SIZE: Japanese Small-Twin 90 x 200 x 1.3 cm (35.43 x 78.74 x 0.51 in) when folded: 50 x 90 x 5.5 cm (19.69 x 35.43 x 2.17 in) Material: (Top) 100% Japanese Natural Igusa rush (Bottom) Non-woven fabric which is made not to damage the flooring. HOW TO CARE: Before using or when cleaning, please wipe the mat with a dry cloth. In the winter season, condensation of moisture might occur. Please avoid moisture and dry the mat constantly in a shaded and well-ventilated room.
  • [TATAMI'S GREAT FEATURE: CONTROLS HUMIDITY] Natural Igusa Rush has many small rooms inside. They absorb and release moisture and adjust to comfortable humidity. So, they can be dry and cool in summer, and they keep warm air inside and shut out the chill from the floor in the winter. The perfect firm platform under your Japanese Futon mattress for floor sleepers.
  • [VARIOUS USES] Single-use as an underlay mat of a Japanese Futon mattress for a good night's sleep. Also good to use for meditation, Yoga, and multiple uses as an area rug. Enjoy a pleasant touch with bare feet and have a relaxing time. Easily foldable and portable to anywhere you want, and storable in a small space when not in use.
  • [RELAXING & CALMING EFFECT] Tatami's unique scent, which is nostalgic for Japanese people, is said to have an effect on relaxation and enhance concentration. If you are unfamiliar with the scent and feel too much for you, place it in a well-ventilated place until it weakens. The undyed natural color changes little by little over time, and repeated dry-wiping gives it a tasteful luster.

Air it out

I love this Tatami mat, and I use it under my futon. However, I do suggest airing it out before use if you don't want your room to smell like hay.

Comfortable

I have concrete flooring in our home, and I choose to use futons because I find it relieves alot of back pain. And using a rug under the futons was not cutting. Decided to splurge and order these, the quality is very nice and comfortable by it self and has helped immensely under the futons. I've read many complaints about the smell, but frankly I find it comforting as it reminds me of when we were kids and would take the back roads with our Nana just to smell the alfalfa. Over all will return for an update after some usage.

Mat Made in Heaven.

Purchased to go beneath a futon / shikibuton. Does the job, folds well, and has a nice herbal scent, reminiscent of green tea.

Great product

Upon opening the box with the mat in it, it did not smell like chemicals at all. It smelled like hay and a bit earthy. Which is fantastic, it’s very well made imo! Had to return due to sizing issue. Emoor went above and beyond to help me out!

Ah! The smell of tatami!

It's a great mat. I fold it up every night along with my futon giving me an extra room in the apartment. It's also padded (of course). Takes me back to my days visiting Japan. Well worth it - and the quality is just excellent.
