I bought this because I have had two game consoles stop working due to static discharge (I live in a cold and dry climate), and I wanted to place them on a grounded mat. Not to protect them, but to provide an easy place for me to touch a finger to and discharge myself before touching the consoles themselves.Of course this only works if I remember to touch the mat first. Hopefully with the consoles sitting on top of it I will.Generally across the mat the resistance ranged from 8K ohms to 20K ohms, and the grounding wire had continuity across both ends. So this mat really is conductive, and you really can ground it.For human safety the resistance should be in the 1M ohm range but I'm not using it in any situation where there is exposure to live power (110V or 220V), this is purely for providing a path for static discharge in my use case. The unit comes with a testing pen. It's a LED and a battery that turns on when there's a few kiloohms of resistance between the contacts. It just tells you if the mat is conductive, but I verified that with a multimeter to be sure. The pen cannot indicate anything about the mat being grounded, just that the mat is conductive. Now on to the health aspect:Grounding yourself for health reasons is pure quackery. In fact, it's dangerous because if you touch live power the mat provides a conductive path THROUGH YOUR BODY to ground. This is why the mat resistance should be in the mega-ohm range instead of the kilo-ohm range. In terms of safety this IS NOT A SAFE PRODUCT. It does not have adequate resistance to limit current flow THROUGH YOUR BODY. If you insist on using it, do not have ANY electrical devices near you that could possibly experience a fault and electrocute you.The only purpose this mat serves is to provide a point for static electricity to be discharged as long as there is no chance of you being near live power. I think it's fine for that. But it serves no purpose for health and is DANGEROUS to use for health purposes.
I loved this mat. It's comfortable, spacious, and feels well-made. Since using it, I've noticed less tension and a more relaxing feeling when working or resting. The material is soft and easy to clean. Excellent purchase
I can't really tell if this is doing anything or not. I'll keep using it, espescially through winter since where I live, the grass is sharp and dry and freezing. We'll see if I notice anything beneficial or not over time, but so far, it's half seeming like a trendy thing that places are profiting from that doesn't have tangible benefits. Maybe I expected too much, but I've never been able to get the benefits of the placebo effect, which I suspect is the main thing going on with these.
Skeptical at first but within a week of using the mat my edema in my legs are finally manageable. Just a half hour at night makes a big difference
