This mala is beautiful and made from some high quality genuine crystal beads. The guru bead on this one is especially nice and I find it to be a more contemplative set in general when I meditate with it. I only have a few tried and true malas that I actively use, I try to avoid accumulating too many because I personally feel it's excessive, but this is the second Genasto Mala I've gotten and both of them see regular use in my meditation cycle because of their high quality materials and solid build quality. Sometimes it depends on my mood and others it depends on the time of year, But this one with the tigers eye, lapis and onyx I tend to use when I'm doing more contemplative meditation, rather than typical daily mediation. The cool touch of the crystal beads, and the especially the shape of that guru bead is something I find calming. The onyx beads are on the smaller side which is one of the reasons I like it for longer and slower more contemplative sessions. For quick daily sessions I usually lean toward a large sandalwood mala, and for more grounding ones I use a Genasto obsidian mala. For some people. the material of the mala may not matter, and that's ok, but meditation is a personal practice. I like having some with specific designs and crystals for different moods and intentions. This one is well made, and from genuine materials that feel and look nice. I think it's a great value personally, but it's up to the individual if a mala feels like it resonates with them of not. It would make a beautiful gift for someone who meditates daily too.
This mala is primarily onyx with a few tiger eyes evenly spaced. The beads are tightly knotted in, so you don't get a lot of movement; if you use a mala for meditation by shifting the beads this won't shift, but if you pass it through your fingers it's good. The stones are smooth and the whole things feels quite solid, not at all fragile. The beads are a bit smaller in diameter than I'm used to with other malas.
