I love the matte/metallic look of the glaze of this simple yet elegant bowl. It is a very neutral gray with shiny bronze drips. This also comes with a bag of gray ash so that I can stick my incense sticks into it. I was initially very impressed when this incense holder arrived. I have another high-end Japanese incense bowl, and was in need of another for my home office. This bowl is very well made, and the finish is beautiful. The base is slightly crooked if you look at it from the side, so it sits slightly uneven, but you don't notice it at all. It is the perfect size for using with my collection of Japanese incense sticks. And the addition of the bag of ash (made from rice hulls), was a nice touch.
