Japanese Tatami Mat (Queen XL)

⭐ Key Features

•✅ Product Details - Size: 63" x 78.7". Structure: outer fabric = mesh igusa; middle layer = EPE 3/8"; bottom = 100% polyester (non-slip). Not washable. Made with natural rush grass, this mattress brings the gentle comfort of japanese tatami into your home. Traditionally used in tatami mats, igusa provides a breathable and refreshing surface. The foldable design allows it to be used directly as a tatami mat queen, and it also works perfectly as a supportive layer under a japanese floor mattress. Thoughtfully curated and offered by BJDesign.

•✅ Natural Moisture Control & Air Purification - This tatami floor mat naturally absorbs moisture, sweat, and odors to help maintain a clean and comfortable atmosphere. Igusa balances humidity by absorbing moisture in humid air and releasing it when dry. With 2.5 times the moisture absorption of cotton, igusa also helps reduce indoor pollutants—making it a refreshing base for a tatami bed setup.

•✅ Works Perfectly With a Futon - Ideal for those who prefer sleeping close to the floor, this mat provides gentle cushioning and support under a futon or japanese floor mattress. The 9mm polyethylene foam core softens daily noise, making it suitable for apartments and condos. It can also be used as a compact tatami rug, or arranged as a queen tatami mat to create a harmonious floor layout.

•✅ Easy to Store & Maintain - This lightweight, five-fold design is easy to carry, fold, and store. Lean it against a wall or place it in a closet when not in use—perfect for maximizing bedroom space while maintaining a clean tatami floor mat area. No washing required; simply air-dry in the shade as needed. In humid seasons, allow the igusa to air out regularly to prevent moisture buildup.

•✅ Create a Calm Japanese-Style Bedroom - Quality futons paired with good tatami mats create a peaceful and restorative sleep environment. Tatami brings a grounding, natural feeling into your home. Combine this mat with a futon, a tatami bed, or a japanese floor mattress to recreate the serene comfort of a Japanese-style bedroom.

•✅ Note on Natural Igusa Aroma - New igusa (rush grass) products have a distinctive, natural scent. Many people in Japan are familiar with and enjoy this traditional tatami aroma; however, those using tatami products for the first time may find the scent noticeable at first. If the aroma feels strong, we recommend airing the mat in a well-ventilated room and allowing it to dry in the shade for several days, which can help soften and reduce the scent over time.
