Zen Garden Kit for Desk Japanese Sand Box Meditation Office Decor (Black)

I have this in my office while I'm waiting for things to load or update, etc. It's fun resetting it every once in a while! It comes with a lot of little trinkets to decorate your garden. My daughter likes to come into my office and help "garden" (aka make a sand mess lol). It's relatively easy to clean up and set up. The size is actually a lot bigger than I thought it be! It's a pretty decent size and takes up a good chunk of space. The quality looks nice and sturdy.

This is a very chill desk item and certainly helps with the day. Arrived well packaged, came with everything, and no issues or damage.

I ordered this for my office where I have a table and chair for visitors. It's very interesting to see who picks up a rake and starts playing with the garden, and it seems to put people at ease. The size is perfect if you're not looking for it to take up a lot of space. In the photos, mine may look at little cluttered because I put nearly all the props in there, but of course you could go minimalist and just choose a few items if you prefer! I'm pleased with the product. 4.5 stars, only because there could be a little more sand provided (it's too easy to accidentally expose the black frame underneath with just a swipe) and the strong chemical smell when unpacking. Not sure if it was the garden itself or the foam it was packed in. The smell did dissipate after a few hours, though.

The box this comes in is flimsy and not a great option for long term or repeated storage- so if you will not be displaying it constantly, you will want to invest in something for all the pieces. The sand does come in a zipper bag- so you can pour it back in which was nice because I don't have an area to permanently leave it out. It comes with a bunch of tools to create your little space and a lot of decorations- too many in my opinion to use all at once. This lets you mix it up and change things around easily. I added some of my favorite stones for when I am creating.

Overall this SHOULD be nicer than it is. Problem is, it's a little lacking on sand so the moment you try to shape it, you can see the bottom of the tray.The sand is also veeerrry white so even if you do pile it up, you can't see textures you carve into it.The tools are too big if you intend to use any of the ornamentation. You'd only be able to use them if you leave only one or two pieces in the tray at all.

I love this! I've always thought these look cool, and I'm glad to finally have one of my own. The photo shows my first attempt. There are so many different elements included that one of the challenges will be to practice restraint: I think in the case of Zen gardens, more is better. I'm sure I went a little overboard here.Another of my challenges will be to place the elements without dropping them and ruining the patterns I've made in the sand. I dropped more than one element as I was making my garden.My third and biggest challenge will be to find a place where I can see my garden often but where the cats can't get at it. I don't want anyone pooping in it! Plus, my wife and I do foster care for kittens, and right now I have my Zen garden in the room that we keep the kittens in. (We don't have any foster kittens currently.) Maybe I can put up a wall-mounted corner shelf that will be out of range of the kittens? Hmm. I have to think about this.I could see myself getting more of these in the future, from different companies, to obtain a wider variety of elements, as well as to be able to piece together the trays into a larger garden. (I hope someone makes a larger bridge that could span the distance from one tray to another.)

I got this for a friend who mentioned that he wanted one as a desk decoration. The kit is simple but has everything you need in the box (sand, rakes, accessories/focus pieces, etc.). I tested it out before re-boxing and gifting it to him and found that it was very relaxing to pose the various accessory pieces and then develop sand patterns/designs around them.From a build perspective, the frame is well built. The sand comes in a small plastic bottle and it's fairly easy to pour out neatly and then (if you have a funnel nearby) pour back into the bottle if you need to re-pack the kit. The rakes are not the sturdiest material, but you're just moving light weight sand around, so that can be forgiven, just something to think about during transport.Overall, it's a cute set for someone with an interest zen gardens, asian art, or contemplative practice. Recommended as a unique gift or a treat for yourself.

What a fantastic zen garden setup! This was a lot of fun to build out and is a very relaxing thing to slowly rake the sand and move the items around on the board. The items come individually wrapped, and the sand is in a bottle in which you can let out sparsely, or as I took the top off to allow the sand to fill in. The figures and stones are easy to move around, even once you have it all on the board. You can change up the look, adjust the bridge or buildings while racking the sand. The set comes with quite a few different style racks and items to help you (I think meditate) as you rack the sand and focus on your designs. I really like this set and I feel would also make for a fantastic gift.
